Hi, I’m Will.
I am just another guy, crazy about scale modeling. I am from the US Pacific Northwest, but now living in Osaka, Japan. I have lived in Japan on two occasions for a total of 12 years. Before arriving, I had no idea what the hobby would be like.
Living at first in downtown Kobe, the hobby store staffers got used to seeing my face really often. In those days, I used to walk a couple blocks to some really big hobby shops on my lunch breaks. My apartment was only a couple minutes further away than my office. Therefore, the giant stash in my itsy-bitsy (even for Japan standards) apartment was ridiculous.
Now, living in Osaka, I have good access to a lot of what the hobby has to offer here. It’s a blessing and a curse, but I’m lucky to have the experience. At stores, clubs or events, I meet people from an entirely different background, yet we can share the joy of scale modeling.
So why a site like this? I hope to share some aspects of the hobby in Japan. Social media can be really great, but it’s too impermanent. It’s good to have a space where content is always where you expect it to be.
As the name ProjectAFV suggests, I am primarily an armor modeler, although I also enjoy building aircraft. I’m not great, but I try to challenge myself to get better. Like so many other modelers, I find WWII era subjects the most compelling. What can I say? The fascination has been there ever since I was a little kid and only seems to grow with age.
For now, the site has only a couple posts. As time permits, more will come. Feel free to get in touch with any questions or comments.
Thanks for stopping by. It’s great to have you here!
